The exhibition "Life on the caps" will be inaugurated by the Kamel Lazaar Foundation. This international event will take place from June 22nd to August 17th, 2023, at the B7L9 Art Station. It will mark the first presentation in Tunisia and Africa of the film trilogy by the Moroccan artist, Meriem Bennani.
Through a nuanced blend of humor and seriousness, the artist explores the boundaries of contemporary society, addressing crucial issues such as freedom of movement, identity, resilience, and cultural expression.
On the opening day, in addition to visiting the exhibition, there will be a presentation of Meriem Bennani's new book titled "Life on the caps" Published by "Bidoun," the book will be presented as a dialogue between the publishers Negar Azimi and Tiffany Malakooti, along with the curator Myriam Ben Salah.
The book presentation will take place at 8:00 PM in the upper floor of the B7L9 Art Station, followed by a musical performance inspired by the rich Sufi folk music repertoire of the instrument "Mezoued" The performance, titled "Boumziwed" will be presented by the artist Hatem Al-Jamai starting at 9:00 PM.
It is worth noting that the exhibition "Life on the caps" will be open to the public from June 22nd to August 17th, 2023. This exhibition is a collaborative production between the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago and Nottingham Contemporary.
