Originally from Gabes, our artist in residency Sbai Gnaoui is a sculptor and a day construction painter whose practice uproots mundane objects collected on day ‘building sites’ masterfully rehabilitated into night sci-fi techno-dystopias.

Sbai Gnaoui is showing his work during Culture Solidaire, and putting forth some of this month’s programming as a way to cede a measure of control over the ‘lens’ through which our visitors (both in person and online) engage with art and art-making.

For his project, [re]covering, Gnaoui addresses B7L9 as a site for exploration and inspiration, and opted to work exclusively with the B7L9 staff & some of the primary school students from our neighborhood.
