The monograph for contemporary painter Thameur Mejri explore the world of his practice and ideas through essays and interviews with guest authors Olfa Youssef, Olivier Rachet, Deena Weinstein, Matthieu Lelièvre, and Lina Lazaar.
Thameur Mejri investigates the complexities of human existence by identifying parallels between the paradoxical ideas of violence, innocence, guilt and shame. His paintings are a deconstruction in the flesh, expressing what he calls a "secular exorcism". This active deconstruction aims to highlight the violent hierarchy of the signified over the signifier, to make sense of the way we humans are conditioned by dogma, circumstance and the power elite.
