“hello and welcome to Dar Khalti (my aunt’s home)
no need to take your shoes off
we will leave you to wander in this chaos
that no longer fits “
Excerpt from Fredj Moussa’s text
Welcoming Fredj at B7L9 is not about offering him a neutral space: it is accepting that his gestures, his stories, and his affects shift our way of seeing, of showing, and of being an institution.
Making space for another becomes a practice in itself: a way of decentering, of listening, of receiving voices and narratives that are not our own, and that reshape the contours of the place.
B7L9 becomes a site of hospitality for the artist as well as for the public—a space where we experiment rather than validate, where we learn by allowing ourselves to be moved.
To welcome Fi Dar Khaltu is to accept being transformed: to understand that hospitality is never a one-way gesture, but a shared movement that engages us, shifts us, and ultimately expands us.
