Project: La Tablée
Organisation: Compagnie Les Heures Paniques
Country: Tunisia / France
Significant moments in history have the ability to shape both grand narratives and the minute details of very personal encounters. This play examines the latter in relation to the Arab Spring. A Tunisian-French co-production La Tablée serves talk of the revolution, its political impact and influence on countless biographies in the form of a drink shared between friends. On stage a young French writer looking to chronicle the events of 2011 finds herself across from Tunisian companions posing questions while navigating misunderstandings and differing opinions. La Tablée promises a re-examining of history recent enough to still make its aftershocks felt, but with enough time having elapsed for some of the more bitter aftertastes to set in.
