The Kamel Lazaar Foundation (KLF) and 1-54 London 2019 call for applications for The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court installation commission at Somerset House, October 2019
Following the success of their first collaboration - which saw the realization of Ibrahim El Salhi’s seminal ‘Meditation Tree’ - The Kamel Lazaar Foundation and 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair are delighted to announce their renewed collaboration for this year’s courtyard installation commission. This initiative endeavours to empower artists from Africa, as well as the African diaspora, to unleash their creative energy, and to produce a large-scale installation to be unveiled during London’s October art season.
Through this collaboration, the selected artist will be given the opportunity to produce, transport and install a large scale outdoor artwork to be placed in the distinguished fountain court of Somerset House. The work will be unveiled to the 18,000 collectors and art lovers of 1-54 London 2019, between October 2nd and 6th.
We encourage all established as well as aspiring African artists, residing within the continent or abroad to submit their application on; KLFcommission@1-54.com
Closing date for applications is Sunday, 19th of May 2019.
